sometimes i wonder...

how i can have such patience.

today. what a day.
let me preface today by saying today is the day i reserved for finishing/working on my printmaking assignment that is due on monday. the image was already into my copper plate and luckily all i had to do today was print from it(that just made it sound like printing is a piece of cake, however far far from a piece of cake).
test of patience #1
today started with the realization that though i wanted to be in the printmaking lab by 10am i was going to have to wait for my friend to get there because she had the vinyl gloves we needed in order to print. i send her a few texts throughout the morning and call a few times to see if she is up and to see how long she will be till she is ready. no answer, no response. by noon, after not hearing from her i decide i can't wait any longer i am just going to have to walk to her apt and get the gloves myself. so that is what i did.
#2
i get to the printmaking room and they are out of mat board. we use mat board to wipe on the ink and then take it off. so i had to go down three flights, walk to the library and go up three flights where there were no free scraps like there always are, so i had to purchase some.
#3
almost chopped my thumb off cutting mat board. literally. luckily i pulled away only to remove some skin
#4
ended up not even using the gloves that caused the 2 hour delay. i found it was easier to keep my copper clean not using the gloves.
#5
someone took the ink i was using
#6
someone took the tarleton(cloth to wipe ink) i was using
#7
someone took the mat board i bought and was using
(i got back 5, 6, 7)
#8
finally after making 6 practice prints(each practice print takes about half an hour) i was ready to make my first real(meaning with nice expensive paper) print. before i begin rolling i notice the wheel is not set to where it should be so i ask who used it last, and express to those in the room the press is off. noone seemed to know what happened to it. (the printing press should be set at a particular setting each time...there is no reason to change it)so i tried to put the press back to the right spot. that was a lie. i rolled it thru and my print came out too light(not enough pressure) THEN the lady who used it before me remembered she changed the press. why couldnt she have said something before? but she did feel really bad and luckily i like her so i wasn't too annoyed.

i was wearing sandals with no support whilst standing in the printmaking room for 51/2 hours! not comfortable...kinda had to limp home.

then afterwards
#10
went to a preformance our school puts on called Battle of the Dance. usually it is very entertaining and the dances are great. (battle just means they are preforming to win) however, tonight's dance routines made me want to vomit. i am sorry. to help illustrate this- a girl danced a CLOGGING(which already makes me want to vomit) solo routine to the Disney theme song Kim Possible. awkward. i was just not impressed with this nights dancers. i am a dance snob. there. i said it. my life long dream was confirmed tonight of me owning a dance studio and not letting dancing like tonight happen. if you dont already know i love dancing and daily make up dance routines in my head. if i am not dancing i am often thinking about it.

though my patience was tested today while printmaking i was very very successful. each test print turned out great and the final 2 prints did as well. i am very happy with the image i designed, drew, processed and printed. they look like this...

and though my patience was again tested while watching ammature dance routines, afterwards i had a fun evening with friends and also registered for my LAST semester in college!
