tarpon springs | part one

while here in florida we made our way over to tarpon springs. tarpon springs is a greek influenced natural sponge fishing town. the town is located on the gulf of mexico and is filled with greek shops, food, boats, old people, greek people, and all things sponges.

while we were there, we walked around and looked at the boats, shops, watched a video on how they dive for sponges, ate greek food, bought greek pastries, and took a tour boat ride out into the gulf. the boat ride took us to a barrier island{an island made so when a storm comes it hits that barrier first before the mainland} where we were able to get and walk around the island. they gave us a plastic bag so we could fill a bag with shells from the beach. large shells, small shells and stinky shells. we then went in search of dolphins. it was a fun and long boat ride. tarpon springs was a great place. {check out part two with the rest of the photos from the trip}
